Galp Energ\u00eda has made a new offshore natural gas discovery in the Mamba Norte 1 area, located in Area 4 of the Rovuma Basin (Mozambique), informed the company, which participates in the exploration of the area in consortium with Eni (70%), Kogas (10%) and ENH (10%).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the discovery of the Mamba South 1 well in October last year, the discovery of this new large well, with a capacity of 212.5 million cubic metres of gas, increases the gas potential in Area 4 of the Mamba complex to 850 million cubic metres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Specifically, the Mamba North 1 well is located at a depth of 1,690 metres underwater and reached a total depth of 5,330 metres.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the production tests, the first to be carried out in the offshore Mozambique area, the well was shown to produce high quality gas, even with the limitations of the surface equipment, at a rate of one million cubic metres per day, and smaller quantities of condensate. Based on the final production configuration, it is estimated that gas production from the well could exceed four million cubic metres per day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
